Housing Adaptation Grants (HAGS)

The Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability is available to assist in the carrying out of works that are reasonably necessary for the purpose of rendering a house more suitable for the accommodation of a person with a disability who is a member of the household. Examples of works include:

  • Accessible shower
  • Downstairs toilet
  • Stair lift
  • Space for wheelchair access
  • An extension (typically for a bedroom and/or bathroom)
  • A ramp to access your home
  • Grab rails
  • A fixed track hoist

All HAGs applications are assessed on household income and will be prioritised on the medical need of the applicant. The maximum grant available is €40,000 and are subject to council funding being available. Only fully completed application forms, including all documentation requested on the checklist below will be accepted.
