Current Cathaoirleach and Leas Cathaoirleach of Ardee MD

Cllr Jim Tenanty was elected as the Cathaoirleach of Ardee Municipal District for the 2026/2027 term of office at the Annual General Meeting held in Ardee Civic Offices on Thursday, 5 June.

A public representative for over 30 years, Cllr Tenanty succeeds outgoing Cathaoirleach, Cllr Dolores Minogue. He was nominated for the position by Cllr John Sheridan and seconded by Cllr Rachel Kerley, who was elected Leas Cathaoirleach.

This will be the third time that Cllr Tenanty has held the position of Cathaoirleach at municipal level. Before that, he also served as Chair of Ardee Town Council on four occasions.

“I am deeply honoured to be elected Cathaoirleach of Ardee Municipal District and sincerely grateful to my fellow councillors for their confidence and support,” said Cllr Jim Tenanty.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues, Louth County Council officials and the wider community to continue delivering positive outcomes for Ardee and the Mid-Louth area. Together, we can build on the strong progress already made and ensure our district continues to thrive.

“I would also like to pay tribute to outgoing Cathaoirleach, Cllr Dolores Minogue, for her work over the past year. Dolores always ensured that Ardee remained at the forefront of key discussions and initiatives, and her commitment to the area has left a lasting impact.

“In particular, I want to acknowledge her role in helping to bring the Ardee Castle project to fruition, a hugely significant achievement that will benefit the town for generations to come. I look forward to building on the momentum she has created.”
