Night-Time Economy

The Night-Time Economy refers to the activities, services and experiences that take place between 6pm and 6am.

It includes cultural activities, entertainment, hospitality, events and community life, shaped by the people who live, work and spend time in towns after dark.

Across Ireland, national policy recognises the night as an important part of how towns function — socially, culturally and economically — and how people connect and experience place after dark.

Drogheda Pilot

Drogheda is the first town to go live under Ireland’s national Night-Time Economy pilot programme.

The pilot is rooted in Drogheda’s existing night-time culture and focused on developing the town as Ireland’s East Coast Alternative — authentic, creative and locally led.

Delivery is guided by an action plan and steered by the Drogheda Purple Flag Working Group, bringing together businesses, community organisations, creatives and public agencies involved in the night-time economy.
