Dundalk BID Proposal 2024-2028 Submissions Report

Business Improvement District (BID) Scheme – Local Government Act 2001 as amended by the Local Government (Business Improvement Districts) Act 2006

Submissions Report

A proposal for an extension of the Business Improvement District for a further period of five years was received by Louth County Council from the Business Improvement District Scheme Dundalk CLG on the 22nd March, 2023.

The purpose of a Business Improvement District is to enable the ratepayers within the boundaries of the proposed BID to draw up a scheme of projects, services and works which are additional to those provided by Louth County Council and will be carried out for the benefit of the Dundalk BID District and will be financed by an annual BID contribution levy imposed on and collected from ratepayers of rateable property within the BID District.

The key objective of this BID Scheme is to further develop and implement a series of initiatives designed to enhance the cultural identity of the town, boost its international profile and image and further promote and improve the trading environment for the area within Dundalk Town in which the ratepayers operate their businesses.

The proposed services will include the continued employment of a Town Centre Commercial Manager who has responsibility for new and additional marketing, local business and community initiatives.

The Business Improvement District includes the entire former administrative area of Dundalk Town Council.

The BID Proposal was available for inspection at the offices of Louth County Council, County Hall, Millennium Centre, St. Alphonsus Road, Dundalk, Co. Louth, A91 KFW6 and Louth County Council, Town Hall, Crowe Street, Dundalk, Co. Louth, A91 W20C from 9.00am on Thursday 23rd March 2023 to 5.00pm on Friday 21st April 2023. The BID Proposal was also made available on www.louthcoco.ie.

No submissions were received in respect of the BID Scheme.

I am of the opinion that the scheme is appropriate and does not conflict in a material way with the interests of the local community.
