PEACEPLUS Phase 1 Public Consultations

Press Release - PEACEPLUS Phase 1 Public Consultations

PEACEPLUS is a new European Union funding programme designed to support peace and prosperity across Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland, building upon the work of the previous PEACE and INTERREG Programmes. The programme recognises the importance of peace-building activity, but also of actions that contribute positively to the economy, building prosperity and adjusting to the new environment and challenges we face.

This project will be funded by the European Union’s PEACEPLUS Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body. County Louth has been given an indicative allocation of €4.6 million for its action plan 2021-2027.

A series of public consultation workshops were held in November and December, with the final Phase 1 Consultation occurring on 06 December 2022. The workshops aimed to identify peacebuilding needs in the community, and to identify project ideas for the PEACEPLUS action plan.

The main themes of the action plan will be

  1. Local community regeneration & transformation
  2. Thriving & peaceful communities
  3. Celebrating cultures & diversity

There was an impressive turnout across the 18 consultations, from approx. 6-35 people at each session, with over 250 participants across all meetings.

Further consultation sessions will be held in Q1 2023. Please keep an eye on our website, via https://www.louthcoco.ie/en/services/economic-development/peaceplus/ and on https://www.seupb.eu/PEACEPLUS
