National Public Libraries Open Day
Louth County Council is encouraging people of all ages to visit their local library on National Public Libraries Open Day, taking place on Saturday 26th September 2026, and discover the many benefits of FREE library membership.
National Public Libraries Open Day is a nationwide celebration of Ireland's public library service. The annual event highlights the wide range of services, programmes and resources available through the country's 330 public libraries and encourages more people to explore what their local library has to offer.
Sustainable Development Goals Week Events
Eco-Friendly Crafts for Children in Drogheda Library on Saturday 26th September at 11:30am: Join us for a super fun morning of eco-friendly crafts for children. This event is suitable for children aged 5-7 years. Booking is essential and all children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult for the duration of the event. Roald Dahl Arts and Crafts Workshop in Ardee Library on Saturday 26th September at 3:00pm-3:45pm: Create your own piece of Roald Dahl magic with sustainable crafts inspired by Roald Dahl’s best loved books. This event is suitable for children aged 5 years and over. Booking is essential and all children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult for the duration of the event. Pop-Up Book Club in Dundalk Library at 11:30am-12:30pm: If you love books, come along and join our pop-up book club for our National Public Libraries Open Day. Drop in, meet fellow readers and discuss your favourite books and authors. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult for the duration of the event. All are welcome to attend, there is no booking required.
Family Storytime celebrating Libraries in Carlingford Library at 11:00am: Join us for a fun family storytime celebrating libraries. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult for the duration of the event. All are welcome to attend, there is no booking required.
Library themed Storytime in Dunleer Library at 11:00am: Join us for a fun library themed storytime followed by a Bookmark Craft and Colouring station throughout the day. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult for the duration of the event. All are welcome to attend, there is no booking required.
