The Environment Section has responsibility for a range of environmental issues.
These include:
- Aarhus Convention: National Implementation Report.
- Climate Action across Louth.
- Implementing measures to achieve targets set out in Ireland's Climate Action Plan (2019 -2024).
- Implement measures to achieve targets in Louth County Council's Climate Action Plan (2024 - 2029)
- Biodiversity action across Louth including conservation of our natural habitats, species and ecosystems.
- Implementing measures to achieve targets set out in Ireland’s 4th National Biodiversity Action Plan.
- Delivery and implementation of a Local Biodiversity Action Plan for County Louth.
- Creating and implementing a greener and cleaner environment for Louth.
- Encouraging litter control through both education and enforcement.
- Implementing regulations to control waste streams, including waste tyres, end of life vehicle's, waste electronic and electrical equipment, farm plastics and food waste.
- Permitting waste facilities and waste collectors.
- Promotion of recycling and responsible waste disposal.
- Promotion of waste reduction and regulation.
- Protection of surface waters and ground waters from pollution.
- Resolving and responding to environmental complaints and issues.
- Waste Management.
