Healthy Louth's 'Mental Health Matters' shortlisted at LAMA awards

An innovative project led by Louth County Council’s ‘Healthy Louth’ initiative, and the Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP) was shortlisted for Best Mental Health initiative at the recent LAMA Awards.

Mental Health Matters’ was nominated at the event which took place in the Royal Convention Centre in Dublin on Saturday, February 17th, where representatives from Louth County Council and Louth Local Development Company, Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP) attended the ceremony.

The 'Mental Health Matters' project, a collaboration between Healthy Louth and the Social Inclusion Community Activation Programme (SICAP), was recognised for its unique approach to promoting mental well-being within the community. Through a series of workshops, events, and outreach programmes, the initiative aims to raise awareness about mental health issues, reduce stigma, and provide valuable resources and support to those in need.

"We are incredibly honored to have our 'Mental Health Matters' project recognised by the LAMA Awards," said Paula Keenan, Healthy Ireland Coordinator at Louth County Council. "This nomination is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our lead delivery partner Louth Local Development Company, as well as the invaluable support we've received from all our community partners."

The Lama Awards provide a great opportunity to highlight the work done within local communities, and to reward the unsung heroes and recognise the remarkable contribution they’ve made to our lives as well as acknowledge achievements by County Councils, partnerships and projects across Ireland. This year there was a record number of 273 nominations across the 31 councils which was whittled down to 133 shortlisted projects in 26 categories.

"By working together with Healthy Louth and other local organisations, we've been able to make a real difference in the lives of those struggling with mental health issues."
